Burundi Concludes the 18th Edition of the Peace Torch Ceremony in Kayanza

President Évariste Ndayishimiye, accompanied by his family and high-ranking officials, presided over the closing ceremony of the 18th edition of the Peace Torch at Gatwaro Stadium in Kayanza Province.

Thousands of citizens gathered at the stadium to witness the event, which marked the end of a nationwide caravan promoting messages of peace and unity.

The Peace Torch, a long-standing tradition in Burundi, passed through all the country’s provinces, including newly established administrative regions, before concluding in Kayanza.

Over the course of its journey, the torch served as a symbol of national cohesion and reconciliation, engaging communities in various activities aimed at strengthening solidarity.

During the ceremony, President Ndayishimiye delivered remarks highlighting the importance of maintaining peace as a foundation for the country’s progress. Government officials and community leaders also addressed the crowd, reflecting on the torch’s symbolic significance in uniting Burundians.

The event featured cultural performances, including traditional music and dances, which celebrated Burundi’s heritage while reinforcing the central theme of unity. Participants expressed their support for the initiative, emphasizing its role in fostering dialogue and community engagement.

The 18th Peace Torch edition concludes amid ongoing efforts to promote stability and harmony across Burundi. Its completion in Kayanza underscores the government’s emphasis on inclusive peacebuilding and its commitment to maintaining a united national identity.
