Rukinzo Football Club and Musongati are scheduled for the show down this Saturday in the president’s cup final in Ngozi after both teams coming out victorious last week in the semi-finals.
“Rukinzo FC will take on Musongati FC this Saturday July 11, 2020 at Rukundo Stadium by 15:00 local time in Ngozi,” a statement reads from Burundi Football Federation (FFB).
During the Cup’s semifinal match Rukinzo FC locked horns with Aigle Noir in the two legged match in which Rukinzo were able to qualify into the final with an aggregate of 3-2.
While in the other hand Musongati FC narrowly won the game against Inter Star by 1-0 after the two teams shared the spoils in the first leg (1-1).
Musongati and Rukinzo FC are currently ranked 2nd and 9th in the Primus League respectively will lock horns in their first ever final played in the president’s cup in which both teams will be awarded their very first medals and trophy for the first time ever this Saturday since the establishment of the Coupe du President in 2010.
Burundi’s president Evariste Ndayishimiye is expected to be among the guest of honors on the Saturday’s clash in Ngozi province, the winner of the cup will book a direct ticket for the next African Confederation Cup.
Burundi is the only African country to have ended its local league season despite Coronavirus pandemic.
