Burundi’s ruling CNDD-FDD party leaders visit NRM, pay tribute to speaker Oulanyah

The Deputy Secretary-General of the Burundi’s ruling party CNDD- FDD Joseph Ntakirutimana on Tuesday paid a courtesy call at the National Resistance Movement party (NRM) headquarters, where he paid tribute to the fallen Speaker and NRM party Vice-chairperson for Northern Uganda, the Rt Hon Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah. 

Accompanied by Burundi’s ambassador to Uganda, Epiphanie Kabushemeye Ntamwana, the Ntakirutimana together with a delegation of party officials held a meeting with NRM Secretary-General, Richard Todwong and deputy national treasurer, Jackeline Kyatuhaire. 

After the closed-door meeting, Todwong told journalists that both sides had deliberated on several issues that are of great concern on how to sustain historical ties and shared strategies on how both ruling parties and their governments can work in the interest of their citizens.  

The head of the delegation signed the condolence book to pay respects to the late Speaker Oulanyah.

The delegation which jetted into the country on Tuesday morning through Entebbe airport was welcomed by NRM’s director for diaspora affairs, (Rtd) Maj. Awich Pola and later attended the national prayers in honour of the late speaker at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds tomorrow.
