Bumamuru let lead slip as Muzinga fight back at Intwari Stadium

A spirited second-half performance from Muzinga FC earned the hosts a 2–2 draw against Bumamuru FC in an entertaining encounter at Intwari Stadium during Matchday 24 of the Burundi Primus League.

Bumamuru started the match at a high tempo and quickly asserted their dominance. Early goals from Christophe Ndayikengurukiye and Ramadhan Bigirimana gave the visitors a comfortable advantage in the opening stages, putting Muzinga under immediate pressure.

However, Muzinga FC responded before the halftime interval. Forward Flavier Iratanga reduced the deficit in the 40th minute, keeping his side within reach as the teams headed into the break with Bumamuru holding a narrow 2–1 lead.

After the restart, Muzinga emerged with renewed intensity. The home side increased the pressure, creating several attacking opportunities as they searched for an equalizer. Their persistence finally paid off in the 75th minute when Jackson Hamenyimana found the back of the net to level the score.

Despite late efforts from both sides, neither team was able to find a decisive goal, and the match ended 2–2 after an intense contest.

The result has implications in the league standings. Bumamuru FC drop to fourth place with 45 points, allowing Flambeau du Centre FC to move up to third. Meanwhile, Musongati FC climb to second place with 47 points thanks to a superior goal difference.

At the top of the table, Black Eagle CS continue to lead the championship comfortably with 60 points.

The draw leaves both Muzinga and Bumamuru reflecting on a fiercely contested match that delivered excitement for supporters at Intwari Stadium.
